Ninja Chronicles: The Return: New Atlantis Part 2

One of the people that were standing there before us walked over to us. "Welcome to New Atlantis. We hope that you can be able to help us when it comes to our little problem Ninja. I know that we normally don't come to see who happens to arrive, but this time because of the events that are taking place here, we felt it prudent to do so." The one stated. "I am Chief of Staff Steve Ryans; anything that you would need is yours." Ryans told us.

I looked around the place that we had arrived in and checked out the entire place, I had the suit scan for anything that shouldn't be there in the first place, namely that of hidden cameras or microphones. However at the current time, the suit couldn't find anything that was there, but I didn't trust that they had been either moved or had yet to be placed there. Turning to face Ryans I stepped up to him and extended my hand out. "Thank you, and considering that this is the first time that I've ever heard of this place, you'll have to excuse the gazing. After all I've been to many world's that are Earth, and this is the first that I had ever seen that actually built their own under water city out in the middle of a bay and letting the people have full knowledge of the place." I told him. "Now we're going to need a central place to work out of that happens to be our own, after all we've only just arrived and we're going to need to figure a few things out. Also we're going to need the security footage of all of the places here that were affected by what ever happened." I said as Ryans led us towards and through the hanger entrance.

Where we walked out to was a sight to behind. I had seen the dome outside of the ship, but this was something entirely different, something that I had never seen on any of the worlds that I had ever been to. The platform that we were standing on lined the entire side of the bubble as I could see it. There were open offices along the side inset into the walls of the bubble, but it was the area in the center of the bubble that had my attention right off. The place looked like a combination of several different locations, from a lush jungle, to arid desert to parks and farms, and all within this one little dome bubble.

"I take it that you're amazed by what you see here?" Ryans asked me.

Still looking out at everything here, I had the suit start to make a digital recording of everything that I was seeing here. "To be honest, on all of the worlds that I've been to, I've never seen anything like this ever in my life, and believe me I've been to a few worlds that could rival our own in terms of what we do on this world." I told him.

We went to the left of the hanger entrance and walked along passing several offices until we got to an inset door that appeared to be a linking corridor. Going through that I saw that it was a connector to another part of the city, however when we got through the connector, I noticed that there was only corridors and doors here and nothing else.

Ryans noticed. "This is the living area for the research team that's stationed here in the city. Each section of the city has different things incorporated into it, and this section is by far one of the larger areas, considering the number of people living here. The entire city was set up so that it would multi-generational, basically families living here for an untold number of years, with supplies being set down from the surface at least once a week, along with some of the crews getting changed out. I know that there are those that actually can't stand living in a world like this for too long, so they make sure that they can get rotated out to our surface location, which surprisingly isn't located in the nearby towns of Martinez, Benicia or any of the surrounding cities, it's actually a desert location in the southern part of the state. With crews getting rotated between the cities, you'd be surprised by the work that we actually can get done. Hell even amazes me, but then again some of the best minds actually work that way." He told us.

We were brought to a door that slid open in front of us to a single room, I stepped in not knowing what to expect, but it was actually a living quarters for those that were going to be staying there. "This is where you'll be getting set up here, we'll have better systems brought down, but I figured that you'd want to have as much privacy as possible, and this is the nearest thing that we happen to have." Ryans told us. "So I will leave you three to it, please save this city, the work here is extremely important."

Once Ryans had left and the door was closed, both Amy and Alexis stood still as I scanned the room, I knew that I was going to have to do that constantly every time that we left and came back, but it almost couldn't be helped. Once I knew that the room was clean, I folded my helmet back into the suit and watched as Amy and Alexis did the same. "The room is clean." I told them.

Alexis looked at me and smirked. "Kinda figured that considering that you wouldn't allow it to come down while we had been with everyone else out there."

"What I would like to know, what do they need us for, it looks like this place can pretty much run itself and doesn't need us at all." Amy stated as she leaned against a desk that was against the wall.

"To be honest, I don't know, but I figured that we'd find out from the recordings that they happen to have. After all we just got here so we don't know the level of the damage that's been done or what's been done in the first place."  I told them.

A second later there was a knock on the door, our helmets came back up into place before I opened up the door and noticed that there was several people standing out in the hall. "This is everything that you're going to need to figure everything out." The one in front stated as they brought everything in and started setting up the equipment.

As I watched them do everything I recorded everything that they were doing in case my own eyes missed something that they might actually try to pull here for trying to keep an eye on us, this was not something that I wanted in the least. Once they were finished and had left, I rescanned the room and didn't find anything yet again. I know that I might've been paranoid, but the one thing that I wanted to make sure of was that whoever had done the damage thought that they had me, after all if I didn't say anything I knew that I might actually have a chance, it was only a matter of time till something actually did happen.

I looked over the information that they had on hard copy and realized that not everything was there. "It would figure, who ever gave up the information is also making sure that not everything is getting seen. Now I have a feeling that they don't want us to see certain things here, but I do know one thing, we're going to need to check out everything in order to find out exactly what is going on." I stated as I looked over the hard copies that were there.

Amy looked at some of the disks. "So who would want to prevent us from looking at everything, it's obvious that someone is trying to manipulate things here, to make sure that they don't get caught doing what they're doing here, but I would think that this would be a little obvious here."

Alexis had picked up a portable video player and noticed that there were wires coming out of it. "I'm guessing that this is for the tapes that we were given, and if the rest of this is an indication, then I doubt that we're actually going to be getting anything here at all. Everything that we happen to have here is all for nothing here." She stated.

I put what I had down and put my helmet back up and walked over to the door. "It's going to take time to check everything out here, however I've got a feeling I know who is behind everything here. I'm however going to go take a walk around and see what I can see here." I told them as I left to take a walk around.

My reasons I knew were my own, but I honestly couldn't trust anything in this city at all, didn't matter what Ryans had told me, there was something major going on here, and I was going to be damned if I didn't bring the person responsible for everything down. However little did I know that this was only going to be the start of something more that would go on long after this was all over.
